July Advanced Level exams update

Following the unfortunate issues experienced at the recent July Advanced Level exam sitting, we would like to reassure our students, employers and tutors that we are committed to and are working extremely hard to review and understand why the issues occurred, the resolutions available and to ensure that we improve the exam experience we strive to provide for every student.

July Advanced Level exams update

Below is an update for those affected and to reassure students who are taking exams in the future, that we are reviewing all the issues that arose during the exams and we are working hard to put improvements in place.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for the stress and inconvenience students may have experienced when sitting an exam in July.

Marking

Our team of markers are currently marking and reviewing all the July Advanced Level exams, and the exam results are planned to be released on Friday 27 August.

Special consideration

Each special consideration application is now being reviewed. We review each application individually to ensure that we are able to take in to account the different issues students may have faced and to ensure a fair solution for each student who applied. Each successful application will also go through our independent Assessment Committee, and the Committee will determine the appropriate outcome based on the circumstances.

The outcome of all special consideration applications will be incorporated into exam results which are planned to be released on Friday 27 August.

Review and independent audit

We are working extremely hard with our internal teams and suppliers to understand and fix the technical issues that some students unfortunately experienced. This detailed review, with independent oversight, will confirm exactly how the issues arose and what needs to be in place to ensure this does not happen again.

Feedback

We are reviewing all student feedback from the post exam survey, as well as the direct feedback received from students and employers.

Understandably, we have received a high volume of direct communications, so please bear with us while we respond to these. The feedback will be reviewed and used to make improvements to the future exam experience for students.

Stay up to date

We encourage students, employers and tutors to regularly check the Exam Systems Status page for latest and most urgent updates. If you have a question, please do not hesitate to contact us.
