ICAEW and CAI team up to produce Brexit guide

ICAEW and Chartered Accountants Ireland have published a joint guide to help members and clients navigate Brexit.

"Brexit"

August 2018

The guide focuses on the implications for those trading cross border in goods and the likely impact of changes in areas such as customs duties and VAT. It is intended to help those both in practice and in industry who may be addressing for the first time a changed trading regime.

ICAEW president, Paul Aplin, said: “This publication has been designed to help members and their clients deal with what could be some of the most challenging changes we have faced in more than a generation. We are confident that it will be a useful guide and look forward to continuing our collaboration with our Irish colleagues to help members both face the many challenges posed by Brexit but also make the most of opportunities that it may bring.

“Above all, as chartered accountants, we stand united in helping to support the close trading relationship between our respective countries.”

The guide addresses areas including: the trading landscape after Brexit, EU customs and VAT frameworks, supply-chain challenges, trading in Ireland, barriers affecting trade, and the effect of Brexit from a business perspective.
