Nathan Steinberg takes over as LSCA President 2019 to 20
Nathan Steinberg, consultant at Kreston Reeves, is the new President of the London Society of Chartered Accountants, while small business adviser Vicky Andrew becomes Deputy President and Indy Agnihotri is joined by North West London Area Society chair Viresh Paul as Vice President.
Vowing to help restore trust in the accountancy profession and bring some proportionality to the ongoing debate over reform of the audit market, Steinberg takes over as President from KPMG’s Helen Brennan.
Writing in his first President’s column in London Accountant, Steinberg says: “I consider that the most important issues facing the profession are the recovery of trust, proportionality in the debate and ensuring an even playing field for our members. Following recent corporate failures, there has been a clamour for reform from government, the press and the general public.
“There appears a lack of proportionality in the debate with all our members being attacked for certain failures.”
Steinberg had previously been Deputy President. Vicky Andrew, London member for ICAEW Council and adviser to small businesses and accountancy firms, has now been appointed to this position.
Viresh Paul, who has run his own accountancy practice, Paul & Co, for the last 37 years, joins business adviser Indy Agnihotri as Vice President.
Previously, Tom Ahmad has become the new President of ICAEW Chartered Accountants Croydon, taking over from Andrew McKenzie-Smart. Speaking to London Accountant this month, Ahmad says: “The traditional work of an accountant is changing; we all need to adapt to stay relevant. More than ever, we need to be recognised as critical business advisers that are key to helping clients navigate all the challenges they face as entrepreneurs or active stakeholders.”
