ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty appoints LSCA member as chair
Mo Merali, head of private equity at Grant Thornton and member of the London Society of Chartered Accountants, has been appointed as the new chairman of the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty.
Merali is an advisory partner and head of private equity at Grant Thornton, focusing on buy-side and sell-side due diligence and advisory support for corporate, private equity and institutional clients. He brings over 25 years of experience from Grant Thornton to the role, where he is also a member of the firm’s Partnership Oversight Board.
Merali said: “It’s a great honour to be chairing the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty Board. The UK’s corporate finance community has a tremendous opportunity and influential role to play in unlocking growth across the economy, and I look forward to working with my fellow board colleagues to ensure that the faculty and its members achieve our ambitions.”
David Petrie, ICAEW Head of Corporate Finance, said: “The board and I are delighted with Mo’s appointment as chairman. Mo brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in private equity and M&A. He has also been actively involved with the faculty for many years and is very well known in the world of corporate finance.”
The ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty contributes to policy development, practical initiatives and many consultations by international organisations, governments, regulators and other professional bodies. Most recently this has included a significant contribution to the UK government’s Industrial Strategy, and producing the Business Finance Guide with the British Business Bank, which has reached over one million businesses and their advisers. The faculty has become the de facto “voice of corporate finance” and the professional network that extends beyond members of ICAEW now includes 7,000 members and more than 80 member organisations.
