Government launches support finder tool for business

22 April 2020: the government has launched a new online platform to help businesses access financial support during the coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus business support finder tool on gov.uk asks business owners to fill out a short online questionnaire, and they will then be directed to a list of all the financial support for which they may be eligible.

The tool takes the user through various questions about their business, including location, number of employees and turnover.

The government has rolled out a range of loans, tax reliefs and cash grants to combat the adverse economic effects of coronavirus measures on businesses, a summary of which can be found on ICAEW’s UK practical business advice: COVID-19 page.

Commenting on the launch of the tool Business Secretary Alok Sharma said: “Businesses of all shapes and sizes play a vital role in our economy, which is why we want to make it as easy as possible for them to access our wide-ranging package of financial support during this challenging time.”

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak also commented “We’ve launched an unprecedented package of support to protect jobs, businesses and incomes during these challenging times. Millions are already benefitting and this new online tool will allow firms and individuals to identify what help they are entitled to in a matter of minutes.”
