Finance for the Future awards: entries now open

The window is now open for entries to ICAEW’s Finance for the Future awards, which recognise financial leadership in building sustainable economies.

This year will mark the ninth Finance for the Future Awards, which ICAEW proudly co-founded with HRH The Prince of Wales’s Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S) in 2012.

Now also run in partnership with Deloitte, the Finance for the Future programme serves to build, promote and recognise leadership in the development of successful business models which embed sustainability at the heart of their operations, delivering long-term environmental and social benefits.

It works through promoting the sharing of best practice and developing a community of finance leaders committed to making sustainable business decisions.

Awarding sustainability

The awards specifically serve to reward examples of best practice in building sustainable organisations and which highlight how the finance function helps to innovate in this respect.

The window for entries for the 2021 awards is open now – and will close on 28 May – so I encourage all members and indeed anyone else to consider making an entry soon. Please also consider your wider professional network and share with others who you think may be interested.

The awards are free to enter and open to all individuals and organisations across the world. Entries can be self-nominated or nominated by a third party.

You can find details about the award categories and how to enter, along with a look at previous winners, on our website.

A timely opportunity for members

This year’s awards come at a pivotal moment on climate change and the wider sustainability agenda, in which ICAEW will continue to play a leading role.

In November, the UK will host COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties – a unique opportunity to drive more ambitious change, which will coincide with this year’s awards ceremony. One of the key themes in ICAEW’s new strategy for the decade ahead is ‘helping to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals’, and last year we became the first major professional body in the world to become carbon neutral.

The Finance for the Future Awards are an excellent opportunity for organisations to raise their profile. Being a nominee can help to build public recognition for your sustainable operations and innovative approaches to business. Just as importantly, it is a chance for you to showcase your work and inspire, inform and influence others. As such, I highly encourage members to get involved and make entries where appropriate.
