BASE - our business and accounting competition
BASE is our national business and accounting competition for students in school or college aged 16-17 . It’s a unique and exciting experience where students are able to engage in business challenges that enable them to develop key employability skills and understand what it’s like to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
By taking part in BASE students can enhance their skills across the board, from communication and organisation to resilience and commercial awareness. As well as this, they will gain crucial feedback and experience making a great addition to their CV's and university applications.
BASE offers a range of opportunities for organisations to engage with students and teachers. In addition to sponsoring opportunities, you can choose to take part in our employer exhibition at the national final, network with teachers in our dedicated workshop or provide mentors to support the student teams.
The key benefits of supporting BASE include:
- support your talent acquisition programme with access to students who are interested in a career in accountancy, finance or business;
- access and brand reach to core audiences (students, teachers and schools);
- advance the skills of your ACA trainees through nominating them as mentors for student teams (experiences match elements of the ACA development ladders);

- BASE can support your widening participation objectives.
74% of participating students are interested specifically in a career in accountancy, finance or business.
