Network of Finance Leaders (NFL) programme overview

The Network of Finance Leaders (NFL) programme is a practical learning programme that develops the leadership capability of participants through a blend of one-to-one expert mentoring, peer learning groups and experiential workshops. All designed to deliver evidence of the participant’s progress and adding value within their organisation.

NFL is designed to accentuate the difference between management and leadership, and accelerate the influence and commercial effectiveness of ambitious first line managers and experienced senior managers aiming to progress into strategic leadership roles. Research shows that mid-level managers are key to business performance, but are often overwhelmed by the details of its day to day execution. NFL focuses on providing managers with the insight to deliver far more easily the everyday results expected of them, while also developing a strategic mind-set and leadership style to influence across their organisation.

What's involved

Mentoring and coaching x 4 (1.5 hours per session)

These are focused sessions where participants share their learning, and gain from the insightful experience of a senior leader or an expert coach, to accelerate their individual development.

Networking events x 2 (evening)

Some of the most successful leaders in UK business share their personal journey and the reality of leading an organization from a senior strategic role. Previous speakers have included Philip Vincent, CFO of BBC Worldwide and Tom Athron, FD of Waitrose.

Leadership and commercial skills workshops x 4 (1 day)

Practical workshops designed to identify the strategic skills that increase influence and effectiveness, and overcome the known ‘critical incidents’ that can stall the transition from manager to leader.

Peer learning groups x 4 (half day)

Participants work with a facilitator in small groups to apply the learning from the workshops to their individual leadership challenges and develop practical solutions with the mutual support of their peers. Delegates learn that their leadership challenges are not just unique to them, and identify the leadership skills that work across a diverse spectrum of roles and industries.
