The ICAEW Diploma in IFRSs is assessed by a combination of two course assignments and an open book final exam at the end of the course.

Please note

We are no longer accepting new registrations for the ICAEW Diploma in IFRSs.

Current delegates of the Diploma in IFRSs can still complete their learning and gain the diploma. If you are a current delegate and have a query regarding the diploma please contact Anna Havard by email or phone +44 (0)1908 248 255.

The assignments

There are two course assignments. Each course assignment is worth 25% of the total marks available. For each assignment you will need to research the standards, therefore you will be allowed 3-4 weeks to complete each assignment before you submit it electronically for marking. The submission dates can be found in the key dates section below.

The exam

There is one final exam which is worth 50% of the total marks available. It is a written exam which will be invigilated at a set venue. The exam dates can be found in the key dates section below. The final exam can be sat in London or New York. Where possible, exams can be arranged in countries other than those stated above. Please see the FAQs for further information.

The overall pass mark is 50% - you must achieve at least 45% in both course assignments and at least 45% in the final exam to be awarded the ICAEW Diploma in IFRSs.

What do I need to do if I fail an assignment or the assessment?

You are eligible to attempt the exam up to four times. If you fail, you should review the marks and comments made by the assessors in your results and feedback letters before resitting.

If you have failed any component of the IFRS Diploma, you may ask for a marks review during the two weeks immediately after the final Diploma results are released. This is not a re-mark of any component, it checks that the marks have been awarded according to the published mark scheme. It also checks that all the marks awarded to your script have been correctly calculated and transferred to the ICAEW marks database correctly.

What is the cost to resubmit my application should I fail?

The cost of each resubmission is £225 + VAT for each assignment and £400 for the assessment
