Oh law! Put the ICAEW Library team on the case

Whether it's the latest VAT cases or a historical decision about auditor liability, the ICAEW Library Service can help you find the case law you're after. If you need to help your clients or keep up to date with the latest legal precedents, we'll use our combination of resources and professional expertise to look for the answer.

We have access to two major premium legal databases containing over 400,000 full text case documents and indexing many more. As well as helping you locate named cases and find related commentary, we can search for cases on particular topics so you can judge why other cases were successful or failed. If you're visiting London, take the opportunity to call in to the Business Centre where you can search these legal databases for yourself.

Some of the electronic case series go back as far as the 1930s, but if you need even earlier or really old material then we also hold a large number of hard copy case reports. These include the rare series Accountant Law Reports, which even the Law Society doesn't hold.

For more information about sources of case law check out the Library's special Subject Gateway. Our document delivery service includes delivery by email whenever possible and is free to members.

Remember, if you need help finding that elusive judgment or don't know how to put law in to order, our research team will be happy to help. Contact the Enquiry Desk and we'll do the detective work for you.
