Knowledge Guide to Share Prices
Share prices are reported in numerous places, from the market pages of broadsheets to individual company websites. This knowledge guide lists sources for current, historical and international share prices.
When looking for share prices, consider what figures you're looking for and whether the price you want is current or historical. If you want to know average share prices for the day, these are commonly reported in the national press. If you want the latest trade, you will need an online share service. For the volume traded, consult the Stock Exchange Daily Official List.

Our CGT page gives sources for shares of negligible value and the valuation of unquoted shares.
Due to licensing issues the Library & Information Service cannot provide historical share prices. However:
The FT Data Archive (subscription required) holds the share price tables published in the Financial Times for the last five years.
ICAEW members, ACA students and other authorised users have access to the Library's print resources, including a microfilm archive of the Financial Times from 1975 onwards.
Note: The Library currently does not have access to its microfilm collection. This is a temporary change and we hope to have access restored as soon as is viable. We apologise for any inconvenience.
ICAEW members, ACA students and other authorised users can use the Library & Information Service to obtain information about UK and Irish Dividends, Unit Trust distributions, British government stocks, and capital histories. Contact us with your request.
