Assurance mapping is a powerful tool that can provide great insights for boards, senior management and audit committees. By allowing the decision-makers to take appropriate comfort from the assurance provided, these maps can maximise its value for the whole organisation.

An assurance map offers a structured means of identifying the main sources  of assurance across an organisation  an danalysing them against the organisations’ risks and perceived level of assurance need. Such maps are already used across the FTSE 100, and also in a growing number of public sector bodies.They are just as valid for smaller organisations; the same principles apply, just the map itself needs tailoringto suit the organisation. Even organisations with as little as £4m annual turnover are now developing simple but relevant map.
