Culture shift: Changing internal audits

Internal audits of culture can help organisations get to grips with their DNA.

The significant role that culture plays in corporate scandals is well documented. From the charity Save the Children, through to retailer Sports Direct and gig economy stalwart Uber, headlines have been made for the wrong reasons after corporate culture was exposed as toxic.

Given the risk that corporate culture presents, cultural audits need to be an established part of a risk management strategy. Especially bearing in mind that boards have a responsibility under the UK Corporate Governance Code to establish that the culture, values and ethics of their company are aligned.
