Douglas Roberts (1) has joined TLT as a corporate partner in Edinburgh, from Lindsays, where he spent eight years and was a partner. He previously worked for MBM Commercial, RPF, Semple Fraser and Steedman Ramage. He has extensive sports business experience – he was senior legal manager for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games for two years –and expertise in employee ownership.
In Belfast, the firm has also recruited renewable energy development expert David Miller (2) as a partner in its UK real estate team, from Tees Law, where he spent 15 years.
Burges Salmon has promoted Alex Lloyd to corporate partner. He joined the firm in 2015 from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Based in Bristol, his focus is on technology transactions. He trained with Baker & Mackenzie.
Aster Crawshaw (1) is to succeed Charles Penney (2) as senior partner at Addleshaw Goddard. Crawshaw is a corporate partner, advising professional services firms on international structures, M&A and partnership agreements. He joined the law firm in 2007 from EY’s global legal team. He previously worked for Barlow Lyde & Gilbert and Linklaters.
Penney, who has been with Addleshaw Goddard for 18 years, has been in the role since 2016 and will stay as a transactional lawyer in the firm’s corporate practice.
The Paris office has recruited Gwenaël Kropfinger (3) from DLA Piper to lead a specialist transactional tax department. A specialist in tax structuring of mid- and large-cap acquisitions, he previously worked for King & Wood Mallesons.
Dentons has recruited Richard Sharples (1) as a partner in its UK banking and finance team, from Clifford Chance, where he spent 32 years. He specialises in leveraged finance, private equity, debt restructuring, acquisition finance, corporate and syndicated lending. He will work closely with the private equity and corporate teams to develop the firm’s leveraged finance offering.
In Barbados the firm has recruited Rosalind Bynoe (2) as a corporate partner. She has 30 years’ experience in M&A and debt and equity financing.
In Lexington, Kentucky, Anthony Cieri (3) has joined as a corporate partner, from automotive manufacturer Valvoline, where he was general counsel.
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has recruited banking and finance partner Laleh Shahabi in its new Abu Dhabi office, from Shearman & Sterling. She previously worked for White & Case.
Simmons & Simmons has recruited Laura Fiordelisi (1) as a corporate partner in Milan, from Alpeggiani. She specialises in transactions, private equity and venture capital. She has brought her corporate team with her – advocates Federica Musacchia (2) and Nicola Rabitti (3), and trainee lawyer Marco Businelli (4).
McDermott Will & Emery has recruited Holger Ebersberger (1) and Hanno Witt (2) to co-lead its private equity practice in Germany alongside existing partner Michael Cziesla. Ebersberger joins from Noerr, and previously worked for Ashurst and Linklaters. Witt joins from Latham & Watkins; before that he worked for Linklaters, Freshfields and Clifford Chance.
Travers Smith has launched an ESG and sustainable finance academy, to train lawyers across the firm on how such issues affect clients’ businesses. It is in partnership with the Oxford Saïd Business School. The law firm’s ESG practice now has more than 15 partners.
Clifford Chance has recruited technology specialist Stella Cramer as a partner in Singapore, from Norton Rose Fulbright. She will lead its Asia Pacific tech group.
Charles Russell Speechlys has made Guillaume Ferrand counsel in its Paris corporate team.
