London-based PwC partner Steve Cater has been promoted to global co-head of corporate finance. He has been a corporate finance partner for 19 years and spent the past five years as EMEA corporate finance co-leader. He joined the firm in 1999.
Moore Kingston Smith has promoted Nick Thompson to head of corporate finance. The firm’s corporate finance team comprises 35 professionals working in M&A, transaction services and debt advisory teams, and has a particular focus on media, marketing, IT services, manufacturing and education. Thompson joined the firm in 2009, trained as an ACA in audit and moved into corporate finance in 2012, becoming partner in 2019. His particular specialism is in IT services and media.
RSM has recruited James Zuurbier (1) as a corporate finance director in its deal services team. He has joined from EY, where he was a director in its transactions and corporate finance team. He spent seven years with EY and, before that, four years with Barclays in various roles in its corporate banking team. He started his career with KPMG, where he spent three years and trained as an ACA in its London audit team. He is particularly experienced in financial services transactions and has taken on a leadership role in RSM’s financial services industry group, and will work to enhance the firm’s financial services due diligence team.
RSM has also recruited Jarrod Haggerty (2) as partner to lead the forensic and investigation services team. Haggerty has moved from Deloitte where he spent 15 years. Prior to that he spent 10 years with PwC.
Price Bailey has recruited Pat Walters to its Cambridge team as strategic business development director. He previously spent two years with FRP Advisory in Cambridge as a corporate finance director, and before that worked for 16 years in corporate banking origination. Walters started his career with Grant Thornton, where he spent five years and trained as an ACA.
Cardiff-based advisory firm Gambit Corporate Finance has recruited Cen Thomas as a director in its M&A team. He has joined from Deloitte, where he spent 10 years and was a director in its special situations M&A team. Prior to that, he spent seven years with UHY Hacker Young, working in corporate finance and based in its Newport office. Thomas trained as an ACA with the audit team at Clay Shaw Thomas in Bridgend. He was also awarded the ICAEW Corporate Finance Diploma in 2011.
Ryecroft Glenton Corporate Finance has recruited Conor Quinn as a corporate finance executive. He has joined from KPMG in Newcastle, where he qualified as an ACA in audit last year.
Ian Birch has joined Alvarez & Marsal in Birmingham as corporate finance technology M&A director. Before this move, he had been with PwC in the Midlands for 15 years, where he was technology services M&A leader.
Mercer & Hole has recruited Kevin Paget as director and head of deal advisory. He has moved from Menzies, where he had spent eight years and was a corporate finance director. He was previously a director at Reigate-based corporate finance boutique SamCorp, where he spent nine years.
Quantuma has promoted Darra McCarthy-Paul to corporate finance manager. She joined the firm’s Southampton office as an assistant insolvency administrator in 2018, having previously worked with BDO. After completing her training as an ACA, she joined Quantuma’s corporate finance team in London in 2022.
Buzzacott has recruited Dhvani Marwadi (1) as an assistant manager and George Mayo (2) as executive in the M&A team. Marwadi has joined from EY, where she had spent seven years, initially training as an ACA before moving into M&A in 2022. Mayo has moved from Forvis Mazars, where he worked as an assistant manager in valuations. He previously spent four years with KPMG.
In addition, Lee D’arcy (3) has joined as assistant manager in the transaction services team in London. He has moved from RSM, where he spent three years and worked in transactions data analytics and trained as an ACA.
EY has recruited Will Rix (1) as head of capital and debt advisory for the North of England. He has joined the firm from HSBC, where he had been for 11 years and was a senior director in corporate banking origination. Prior to that, he had trained as a lawyer with Eversheds.
The Big Four adviser has also promoted Martina Keane (2) to UK and Ireland financial services leader, and her predecessor Anna Anthony (3) to regional managing partner. Keane joined EY in 1998 and has been a partner since 2009, and had been financial services chief operating officer since September 2021. Anthony has been an EY partner for more than 16 years.
DC Advisory has recruited Tom Gilbride as associate in its TMT investment banking team, from Livingbridge. He previously worked for GP Bullhound and started his career with BDO, where he trained as an ACA before moving into its TMT M&A team.
Mark Barrie has been promoted to head of debt advisory at Azets. He joined the advisory firm six years ago and before that worked for NatWest and RBS.
FRP Advisory has recruited Neville Side as a partner based in its restructuring practice in Brighton. He has joined from BDO in London, where he had worked for 22 years and was a restructuring partner.
