Rory McPherson has joined BGF’s Scotland and Northern Ireland team as an investor, from BDO, where he spent eight years and was a partner leading the advisory firm’s Scottish M&A team. He will be based in BGF’s Edinburgh office. Prior to BDO he worked in structured finance at RBS and acquisition finance at Lloyds Banking Group. He had a previous stint in corporate finance at BDO and started his career with Scott-Moncrieff, where he trained as a chartered accountant.

Gresham House Ventures has recruited Alex Yanitsky as an investment partner in London from PROPELR Growth, a Toronto-based growth equity fund, where he was a general partner. Prior to that, he was an executive director at Goldman Sachs and had private equity and corporate finance roles at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and RBC Capital Markets.

WestBridge has promoted James MacLeay (1) and Ed Minton (2) to director, and Rory Whitrow (3) and Jess Ledger (4) to investment manager. MacLeay and Minton joined the firm in 2018, from Moore Kingston Smith and WK Corporate Finance respectively. Both are ACAs – MacLeay trained with Moore Kingston Smith, Minton with Crowe. 

Whitrow joined the firm four years ago from Newton Europe, where he was an operations management consultant. Ledger joined two years ago from Investec, where she worked in investment banking.

August Equity has promoted William Hurst (1) to head of finance and Matthew Benstead (2) to manager. Hurst joined the private equity firm in 2018 from Dixon Wilson, where he trained as an accountant. Benstead joined the investment team as an origination executive in 2022 from Third Bridge Group, where he spent four years in private equity research.
