BCM research methodology

What makes the ICAEW Business Confidence Monitor a trusted tool for the broader business community, policy-makers and academics?

On-going telephone research among ICAEW members in business, with 1,000 interviews carried out per quarter.

  • 1,000 interviews per quarter among senior business professionals, covering a range of economic sectors, regions and company sizes.
  • We gather data on business confidence, performance and intentions for the year ahead, as well as the impact of changes in areas such as regulation or availability of skills.
  • Having run the research since 2004, we have an extensive dataset with which to draw comparisons and identify trends.
  • The data is weighted to ensure the profile of each quarterly survey accurately represents the UK economy.

Taking part in the BCM

If you're an ICAEW member working in industry or commerce you might be called to give an opinion on the economic prospects facing your organisation - please spare a few minutes to take part. Your views will provide information on matters of key concern to a broader businesses community, policy-makers and the media. You'll also be helping ICAEW to promote Chartered Accountants as business people with a serious contribution on business, finance and economic issues.
