How does my firm become a licensed practice?
From 1 April 2016, if you wish to act as an ATOL Reporting Accountant for an ATOL holder, you must become a member of an ATOL Reporting Accountant scheme (ARA). Find out more about ICAEW's Licensed Practice scheme, view detailed guidance and download application forms.

Revised arrangements for ATOL reporting accountants reporting to the Civil Aviation Authority
ICAEW Technical Release TECH09/16AAF, published by the Audit and Assurance Faculty in April 2016, outlining new reporting arrangements introduced after discussion with the CAA relating to the Civil Aviation (Air Travel Organisers' Licensing) Regulations 2012 and the Civil Aviation (Contributions to the Air Travel Trust) Regulations 2007. It replaces Technical Releases TECH07/12AAF (issued in November 2012) and TECH02/09AAF (issued in May 2009).

Airline accounting resources

Industry Accounting Working Group (IAWG)
Division of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) that issues airline accounting guidelines (AAGs) and liaises with standard-setting bodies on issues for the industry. The AAGs and Accounting Flash bulletins issued to date are available for download in PDF format by registering with the site. The AAGs do not have the recognition of SORPs, but they do make recommendations on best accounting practice in key areas for the industry.
