Update on conferences and roadshows
Judging by the feedback, this year's Annual Conference, held in London and Manchester in May and July, it was a great success and we have put together an interesting agenda for the Roadshows this Autumn which are being held In four regional centres.
The theme of the 2018 Conference was “Future Challenges and Opportunities”. Delegates heard from a variety of speakers in the morning including Sean Hankin and Stina Hjort from the SRA giving an insight into Future Regulation in the Legal Sector, Adrian Biles CEO of Gordon Dadds Group on their journey through to a listing on the AIM market, Duncan Jackson of Buckles challenging traditional approaches to pricing and winning business and Bernard Marr with a scary insight into the rapidly changing digital world and how to survive the challenges which it brings.
After lunch, the attention turned to the continuing threat of cybercrime with real life examples provided by Donna Dimmack of Lloyd’s Bank. This was followed by a fascinating presentation from Sam Palmer and Dawn Allen of Pinsent Masons on their experiences with failing law firms.
We are already working on the agenda next year's conference. We have decided to go for single venue - Chartered Accountants Hall on Wednesday 3 July 2019. Please save the date!
Details of the autumn roadshows have already been circulated. These include an important update from Janet Taylor on the SRA Accounts Rules and the role of the Reporting Accountant, a session on the latest Cybercrime threats and a presentation from the Law Management Section of The Law Society on improving profitability and cash flow.
