DCLG has published the draft Local Audit Bill and accompanying impact assessment for consultation and pre-legislative scrutiny . The press notice for the announcement can be found here.
The draft Bill reflects the proposals set out in the Government's response to the Future of Local Audit consultation, published in January 2012. DCLG also published proposals for the audit of smaller local public bodies (those bodies with an annual turnover of less than £6.5 million) alongside the draft Bill.
ICAEW has actively worked with DCLG on the future of local public audit proposals and has responded to this bill. -
