Going green: what can you do?

Paris will host UN talks on climate change later this year. Francesca Sharp and Richard Spencer have news of next month’s ICAEW-led summit that looks at the green issues facing business.

There are many horror scenarios to keep CFOs awake at night: damage to business facilities; supply and distribution chains disrupted; power cuts; a fire; or a supplier going bust. But have you ever thought about a horror scenario caused by an unforeseen environmental issue, eg, flooding or a heatwave? How you might ensure business survival?

Plenty of discussion is expected around these themes at a joint event on 1 October between ICAEW, sustainability consultancy Carbon Credentials and the Prince of Wales’s Corporate Leaders Group. The summit – What will successful climate talks in Paris mean for your business? – takes place ahead of the UN Climate Conference (COP21) in Paris this November.

The aim of COP21 is to reach a universal and legally-binding agreement to curb carbon emissions and combat climate change. This will mean changes for all of us but particularly for business. The ICAEW-led October summit will start the conversation about what this means for business.
