Custom Lego - making the most of Building Blocks

Although you are most likely to come across ‘Building Blocks’ in Word, the principles covered also apply to the other Office applications.

The most obvious change in Office 2007 was probably the introduction of the ribbon to replace the previous menus and toolbars interface. However, there were many other significant changes. One of these was the increased use of graphics to create 'galleries' of pre-set options that could be applied with a single click. For example, in Word the Margins option in the Page Layout ribbon tab displays a set of different margin settings including Narrow and Wide; Excel displays Cell Styles in a gallery on the Home ribbon; PowerPoint Transitions and Animations can be applied by clicking a picture from the appropriate gallery and Outlook, in common with the other applications, includes a set of built-in Themes.
