Accountancy bodies

ICAEW has strong working relationships with other leading accountancy bodies in all the major financial markets. We help shape and influence the global accounting profession, and promote excellence in technical and ethical standards.

Our partnerships

Chartered Accountants Worldwide

Chartered Accountants Worldwide is an initiative by the leading chartered institutes to support, develop and promote the vital role that chartered accountants play throughout the global economy. It creates a community of hundreds of thousands of chartered accountants and students who share a commitment to the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.

Global Accounting Alliance

The GAA is an alliance between the leading institutes of accountancy that enables us to work closely on issues that have implications for multiple jurisdictions. ICAEW is one of the nine founding members. Together we work with national regulators, governments and other stakeholders.

Major worldwide accountancy bodies

We have extensive contact with all the major global accounting organisations. Our relationships enable us to promote the quality of ICAEW qualifications, and bring our high standards to the world accountancy platform.

Our reciprocal arrangements

If you are a qualified member of another professional accountancy body, you could be eligible to join the ICAEW. We offer various routes to membership, including reciprocal agreements, advanced credit arrangements, common content arrangements and our Pathways to Membership programme.

We also have reciprocal membership arrangements with leading accounting bodies in several major territories, including Australia, Hong Kong SAR and South Africa. These agreements allow our members to join other institutes without sitting further assessment. Information about the services available to you can be found on the regional pages of the jurisdiction you are interested in.
