Louise became president for ICAEW Southern in May 2022 after 2 years as deputy to Ashley Milne (who has now become her deputy!)
Louise Hallsworth

She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 with KPMG in Southampton and has been an audit partner for 3 firms over the past 14 years specialising in SME’s and not for profit organisations. Her recent role has included opening a Ringwood office for her current firm which has its head office in Orpington. Louise enjoys the interaction with her clients which cover a diversified range of businesses and charities. She refers to the ‘profession’ as being for accountants who like people with her son being quoted as telling his teacher her job was drinking coffee and chatting!

Louise has been in Hampshire for the past 35 years after finishing university in Birmingham. Originally from a farming family in Suffolk her career choice was influenced by being good at maths and ‘accountancy’ coming alphabetically before ‘agriculture’ when applying for university. She refers to being a qualified chartered accountant as being one of her greatest achievements and is very proud to be representing ICAEW Southern.

She is looking forward to her year as President and hopes to engage with as many members as possible. As a full time working mother of 3 (all now grown up) she now feels the time is right for her to give back by volunteering. It is an exciting time following the lifting of COVID restrictions which she hopes will allow ICAEW members to participate and contribute to the events being organised. She is keen to hear from anyone who would like to be part of this new era where we can all support and influence our community.

Louise enjoys all sport but particularly football and is a Chelsea supporter. She also has a great passion for show jumping which her 2 daughters participate in regularly. The competitive edge runs in the family and she is hoping this drive and passion will enable her to build on the foundations created by Ash. Sh Louise qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 with KPMG and joined Baxter & Co in August 2021. She has been a partner for 13 years in 2 previous firms always specialising in SME’s and not for profit organisations.

Louise now heads up our not for profit sector. She has been involved with the educational sector for the past 30 years particularly with academies. She has also acted for a number of charities as well as a wide range of SME clients. She enjoys working closely with all her clients ensuring she becomes their ‘trusted advisor’ for all their accounting queries.
