Tax appeal [2020] UKFTT 350 (TC)

A second hearing following the 2017 decision Tax appeal [2017] UKFTT 0698 (TC) - when an ice rink sells a package deal for admission for a child to skate and also hire skates, is this a single supply or two separate supplies? The hire of skates by children is zero-rated, whereas the admission charge is standard-rated. In both hearings the court decided that the supplies were separate for VAT purposes.

A 'mixed supply' tax tribunal case - the tribunal considered whether annual membership subscriptions paid by members of the Harley Owners Group are a single supply of membership or multiple supplies for VAT purposes. Due to a variety of separately tangible key items received, the tribunal decided in favour of Harley that the membership subscriptions should be treated as a multiple supply, with the printed matter zero-rated.
