Omar is currently a Partner with KPMG in Qatar and the Head of the firm’s Middle East and South Asia Regional Financial Services practice. Omar works with some of the largest financial institutions in the region, including banks, asset managers and regulators, and he has been with the firm for over 15 years.
Currently on a long term secondment from KPMG’s London office, Omar has been in Doha since 2008 where he is based with his wife and two daughters Alissabeth, aged 3 and Aanya, aged 1.
Born in the UK, Omar graduated from King’s College London in Mathematics & Management in 1999 and qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) in 2002. Omar also holds the Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ); an Executive MBA; and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.
Omar has previously worked for three years in Saudi Arabia, also with KPMG, and has travelled extensively across the Middle East, Africa and Asia working with some of the firm’s global financial services clients.
In addition to his client-facing responsibilities, Omar is the Chairman of KPMG’s Corporate Social Responsibility team in Qatar and a member of the Global Islamic Finance Leadership team.
