IAgSA is a national professional organisation supporting farm administrators and bookkeepers working across the UK rural economy. Our members provide a wide range of services to farming and rural businesses, and our mission is to provide professional support to farm administrators and bookkeepers working within the UK rural economy, support career development in rural business administration and promote high standards of professional conduct within farm and rural business administration.
Training and career development
Farming and rural business administration is a rewarding and varied career, although navigating the increasing regulatory and administrative requirements can often be challenging.
Our UK Rural Skills accredited training programme has been designed to be flexible and accessible, making it suitable both for individuals looking to begin a new career and for those already established within the industry.
The role of a farm administrator, bookkeeper or accountant within a farming or rural business requires a solid understanding of current legislation, industry terminology, regulations and ongoing sector developments. Our courses are specifically designed to equip students with:
- A strong understanding of current legislation and terminology
- Practical knowledge relevant to farming and rural business administration
- The skills and confidence needed to continue developing their career within the industry
Continuing professional development (CPD)
All Associate and Full Members are expected to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually.
To support members in achieving their required CPD points, IAgSA provides:
- A National Conference
- Regional training days
- Virtual and in-person learning opportunities
- A mentoring programme for new entrants to the industry
- Ongoing peer support through online meetings and our members-only Facebook group
Our closed Facebook group offers members access to a wealth of practical experience and knowledge shared by professionals working across different areas of the rural economy.
Member support and industry representation
In addition to training and development opportunities, all members receive a monthly bulletin containing important industry updates, current legislation and relevant sector news.
IAgSA also works closely with other professional bodies and participates in the RPA Stakeholder Industry Partnership Group. This role is vitally important in ensuring that rural business issues are communicated effectively between industry stakeholders and government bodies.
