Coronavirus and ICAEW exams

Guidance on ICAEW exams for all ICAEW CFAB and ACA students, employers and tutors during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Your health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us and we want to support you all at this uncertain time. This page has been designed to update you with the information you need and will be updated regularly.

Important update – learning materials

Please note that because Gillards' Warehouse and Distribution teams are limited on staff, orders will take longer than usual to be dispatched. Gillards and ICAEW are constantly reviewing the situation and will update with any further changes. Thank you for your patience through this challenging time and if you have any questions, please contact us.

Important announcement – ACA examinations

It is with great regret that we have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the June sitting for the Professional Level exams and will be postponing the July Advanced Level examinations. This is due to the global challenge we face with COVID-19, and the guidance and restrictions being implemented in many countries; our students' health and well-being are our priority and we hope you understand our decision.

What happens next?

We will be monitoring the progress in bringing the COVID-19 pandemic under control and will need to respond accordingly. In the meantime we have taken the following steps which will continue to evolve, but we will keep you updated as things progress.

Professional Level

For future examinations we are currently exploring options which will help us accommodate larger sittings such as larger exams venues.

Advanced Level

We are moving the Advanced Level sittings from July to the end of August. We are working to finalise plans as a priority and dates will be confirmed to all students as soon as possible.

Certificate Level

We have also been advised that PearsonVue-owned exam centres will close in the UK from Friday 20 March until further notice. Other countries have also been affected by such closures and we recommend you visit the PearsonVue website for the latest information. In response, we are looking at how we can deliver the Certificate Level examinations remotely as a potential solution.

We understand that ACA students may be concerned, disappointed and have several questions, and we appreciate this will be disruptive time for students, employers and tutors. We will do our utmost to provide solutions that work for the majority. We would however appreciate your patience and ongoing support whilst we navigate our way through this challenging period.

We encourage students to use this extra time to continue with their studies and prepare for examinations later in the year. For students in a training agreement or receiving support from a tuition provider, we would also ask them to liaise with them for further guidance.

We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.

If you have any further questions at this time, please do not hesitate to contact us – see How to contact us below.
