We will explore why the increased use of stablecoins could lead more people to fall foul of a tax bill and why tax legislation does not equate a stable value to equal money. Breakout 1: A – Off chain but still on the record: The age of the Cryptoasset Reporting Framework
Are the days of the Wild West over now that CARF is here? When developing CARF, the OECD focused firmly on the tax transparency of cryptoassets. With HMRC set to receive more information than ever before, tax compliance must now be considered more than ever. Chaired by Andersen's Dion Seymour, the panel will include Louise Lane from Wright Vigar; Mark Schofield from S&W and Lynnette Bober from Joseph Hage Aaronson, they will discuss current and future tax compliance challenges, including tax return preparation for taxpayers and agents and the impact of CARF on taxpayers, agents and crypto exchanges.

I don't need to worry about my clients' crypto beyond capital gains? Right? Nope. In this session, we will explore how VAT, PAYE and international structuring all have implications on cryptoassets. Joining this session are Ishvinder Bedi from BDO, Cliff Mensforth from Grant Thornton, and Zoe Wyatt from Andersen to discuss aspects of taxation that are forgotten when it comes to crypto.

Professor Sarah Green
Professor Sarah Green MCIArb Independent Arbitrator and Mediator, Newmans Row, and Professor of Private Law, University of Bristol

Sarah is an arbitrator, specialising in tech, digital asset and smart contract disputes. She sits on the International Jurisdiction Taskforce, the UK Jurisdiction Taskforce, The Digital Commonwealth, LegalUK, and the Commonwealth Trade Digitalisation Taskforce, as well as being an advisor to the APPG on Blockchain Technologies. She was Law Commissioner for Common and Commercial Law from 2020 to 2024. Sarah has written books and articles on blockchain, smart contracts, digital assets and intermediated securities, and her work has been cited extensively in Parliament, and in US Congress.

Meglena Grueva
Meglena Grueva Director, Risk & Regulatory Reporting, AllUnity

Currently Director of Risk & Regulatory Reporting at AllUnity – the fully MiCAR compliant, BaFin licensed e-money institution behind the euro stablecoin EURAU – Meglena is steering the development of the firm’s risk architecture and regulatory reporting from inception. Previously, as Head of Digital Assets Solutions at Forvis Mazars in Germany, she was deeply involved in EU-wide crypto advisory and global regulatory initiatives. Her earlier experience at the European Central Bank further strengthens her deep understanding of supervisory expectations and regulatory policy development in the euro area.

Lord Ranger of Northwood, Kulveer Singh
Lord Ranger of Northwood, Kulveer Singh

Lord Ranger is a distinguished member of the House of Lords with a twenty-five-year career in politics, public service, business, and frontier technology. He played a crucial role in implementing the London Oyster card, cycle hire scheme and development of Tech City. In the corporate sphere, Lord Ranger has served as a senior executive at Atos, leading strategy and corporate communications. He is a member of the House of Lords Science and Technology committee, Co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Digital Money and Digital Markets, and Vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for AI.

Ishvinder Bedi
Ishvinder Bedi Director, VAT Services, BDO

Ishvinder is an indirect tax Director at BDO UK with over 17 years of experience advising clients in the tech and media sector. He has a specialism in the fast developing digital assets and Web 3 space assisting clients involved in digital asset brokerage, custodial services, NFTs and online marketplaces. Ishvinder regularly supports businesses to understand and manage global VAT compliance challenges. Ishvinder is part of the ICAEW’s Digital Assets Working Party.

Tom drives Coinbase’s engagement with policymakers in global markets across the UK, Europe, APAC, LatAm, and the MENA region. He previously served as Managing Director at Credit Suisse, Head of Public Policy Europe and UK, where he was responsible for regulatory policy and government affairs and chaired the internal global Credit Suisse policy committee. He was on the Board of the International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG), the leading, cross-sectoral UK regulatory policy trade association, where he chaired one of the standing committees. For three years he co-chaired the main policy committee for the Association of Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).

Yuri Hamano
Yuri Hamano Director, BDO, Digital Assets

Yuri is a Corporate Tax Director at BDO UK, specialising in the fast-evolving world of Digital Assets, Web3, and Fintech. Yuri works with clients at the forefront of technology, from Layer 1 native protocols, NFT marketplaces and Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs), to crypto exchanges, custodians, and prime brokerages, helping them navigate the complex UK and international tax landscape. Yuri is an active member of the ICAEW Digital Assets Working Party and part of HMRC’s Cryptoasset Working Group, giving him insight into the future direction of policy and compliance in this space.

Richard Jones
Richard Jones Senior Technical Manager, Tax Policy, ICAEW

Richard joined the ICAEW Tax Faculty in November 2020, coordinating the work of ICAEW on business tax and tax compliance & investigations matters and manage the committees related to these areas. Richard is a regular contributor to TAXline, newswire and ICAEW's Insights Podcast. Richard began his tax career at PwC where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001. 

Shermeen Kazmi
Shermeen Kazmi Partner, Financial Services Audit, Grant Thornton

Shermeen has over 20 years’ experience in the audit practice and is a dedicated financial services specialist, with experience across multiple sectors including FCA regulated businesses, with particular focus on CASS and Safeguarding. She is a technical and quality assurance specialist, with extensive experience of risk identification, assessment, and monitoring in relation to FCA’s laws & regulations impacting regulated firms. She leads the development and delivery of regulatory assurance propositions, including CASS and Safeguarding. Shermeen acts as Chair of ICAEW CASS and Safeguarding working party.

Ben Lee
Ben Lee Partner, Andersen in the UK

Ben is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser with extensive experience advising businesses and private clients in the crypto and digital asset sector. He specialises in UK tax & accounting, and financial strategy, with a focus on compliance, structuring, and remuneration planning for founders and investors. As co-lead of the Web3 and Disruptive Tech team, Ben supports businesses across all stages of growth, from startup through scale-up, and provides CFO-level advisory services. He has significant expertise in navigating complex HMRC matters and the evolving regulatory landscape for digital assets.

Louise Lane
Louise Lane Tax Director & Head of Crypto, Wright Vigar Limited

Louise has 7 years’ crypto tax and accounting experience advising crypto individuals, businesses, accountants and solicitors. During the last 7 years, she has worked closely with Recap.io to assist them develop their crypto tax software and writing/reviewing their comprehensive suite of UK Crypto Tax Guides. Louise is a core contributor in the HMRC & Treasury Cryptoasset Roundtables, in addition to participating in many other professional crypto tax and accounting working groups via ICAEW, CIOT, Crypto UK and Bitcoin Policy UK.

Emma Lovett
Emma Lovett Executive Director, Markets Digital Assets, J.P. Morgan

Emma’s team is actively working on developing capabilities to drive the evolution of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchain-based assets within Markets where it complements existing frameworks and supports clients’ needs. Emma is also Co-Chair of the International Capital Market’s Association (ICMA)’s Fintech and Digitalisation Committee. As well as Digital Assets, her areas of expertise span the lifecycle and operational components of new issuances including Technology, Regulation, Legal and Compliance, internal procedures and settlement of bonds on both the Issuer and Investor side.

Dion has over 20 tax experience and, uniquely, has extensive experience in all aspects of the taxation of cryptoassets. His previous role was at HMRC, where he led on cryptoassets policy development. He is at the forefront, serving as chair of the ICAEW's crypto tax working group and the DAWP Steering Committee. He is Co-chair for the OECD’s CARF Business Advisory Group and brings his experience to the steering board for Solana Superteam UK. A prominent voice on cryptoasset taxation, he has published numerous articles and co-authored a book on the taxation of cryptoassets, set for publication in late 2025.

Mark Schofield
Mark Schofield Head of Operational Tax, S&W

Mark focuses on helping Heads of Tax at Financial Services and Fintech organisations meet the requirements of new and evolving regulations across international jurisdictions. He joined S&W in 2023 after more than 14 years working in the Big Four. Mark spent over a year on secondment to UK Finance as Head of Tax Policy. He has worked with a broad range of Financial Services and Fintech organisations worldwide. Mark has served on ICAEW, OECD, HMRC, and HMT working groups and has been an active member of industry tax committees.

Amarjit is leading EY’s Blockchain Assurance Practice across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa. He is currently responsible for a number of Ernst & Young’s largest financial services clients and also provides regulatory assistance especially advising on CASS, MiFID II, CRD IV and Suitability. He chairs the ICAEW’s Digital Assets SteerCo and represents EY at the FRC and FCA on various matters. Amarjit is an active supporter of the Diversity & Inclusiveness programme at EY and is the chair of the EY Sikh Network. He leads engagement with clients on their D&I initiatives in the Financial Services industry.

Polly Tsang
Polly Tsang Senior Financial Services Regulatory Manager, ICAEW

Polly leads ICAEW’s regulatory policy work on digital assets, sustainable finance, and responsible AI in financial services. She develops thought leadership and shapes policy responses on emerging regulatory issues for ICAEW’s 210,000 members. Before joining ICAEW, Polly worked in structured finance and asset-backed securitisation at PwC. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) trained in PwC London’s Banking & Capital Markets and Investment Management practices.

Geoffrey Vos
The Rt. Hon. Sir Geoffrey Vos Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales

In addition to being President of the Court of Appeal’s Civil Division, the Master of the Rolls is chair of the Civil Procedure Rule Committee, the Online Procedure Rule Committee, and the Civil Justice Council. He is chair of the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives and of the Forum on Historical Manuscripts and Academic Research. He is a member of the LawtechUK Panel and chair of its UK Jurisdiction Taskforce and International Jurisdiction Taskforce. Sir Geoffrey was elected as first Vice-President of the Council the European Law Institute with effect from September 2025, and is a member of the Steering Group of the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts.

Antonio Rizzo
Antonio Rizzo Accounting Policy, Circle

Antonio is an accounting policy specialist at Circle, advising internal stakeholders on new product launches, strategic initiatives and general corporate matters, in addition to his role as technical lead for Circle’s reporting in the EMEA and APAC regions. Prior to joining Circle, he was at EY in accounting advisory where he focused on financial services and the crypto industry. Antonio also worked as a controller at a large investment bank specialising in credit markets.

Michelle Robinson
Michelle Robinson Director, Tax, Deloitte

Michelle Robinson is a Tax Policy Director at Deloitte with extensive experience of cryptoasset taxation. Michelle has an interest in the taxation of cryptoassets as a whole, though her core area of specialism is private client taxation. Michelle considers how developments in tax policy and practice will apply in general and to specific client cases.

Marek Walendowski
Marek Walendowski Partner, CFO Advisory, EY

Marek has 20 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to financial services clients, including Banking, Payments, Digital Asset / Crypto and other FinTech clients. He specialises in accounting, reporting, and control matters, and has significant experience in supporting finance executives through various stages of sustainable growth and strategic transaction readiness, including audit and IPO readiness. As a member of EY IFRS network and ICAEW Digital Assets working group, Marek has strong practical experience with IFRS reporting, accounting change, GAAP conversions and structured transactions.

Reuben Wales

Reuben was previously at the FCA where he covered technical roles in Competition and Economics and most recently managed a team responsible for prudentially assessing higher risk mergers and acquisitions. He has a deep interest in the future of financial services regulation in the UK, including themes that touch upon the health of competition in markets and market stability.

Zoe Wyatt

Specialising in international tax with 20 years’ experience, she develops blueprint solutions to clients’ cross-border needs. Since 2019, Zoe has advised Web3 businesses and their founders, with a special interest in DAOs, and is highly recognised for her work in the sector.
