The commitment was reaffirmed at a meeting between the two organisations on Wednesday 14 July 2021. As a result, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (SOEL) will continue to offer ICAEW’s ACA qualification and career support to finance professionals in Greece through the bodies’ Accredited Membership Programme (AMP), alongside membership and support from SOEL.
Michael Izza, ICAEW Chief Executive, said: “I am pleased we are reaffirming our partnership with SOEL to enable talented individuals from all backgrounds in Greece to benefit from ACA training and SOEL membership.
“Our students’ professional skills will support the implementation of investment and reform measures outlined in Greece’s recovery and resilience plan”, Izza continued. “This will enable Greece to rebuild from the pandemic and demonstrates the important role of chartered accountants in building strong economies”.
The AMP brings together the ACA and SOEL qualifications, enabling students to study Greek tax and law and qualify as chartered accountants and members of both bodies. The Programme provides leading business skills, technical knowledge and professional ethics to chartered accountancy students in Greece, as the country rebuilds its economy following the coronavirus pandemic.
The President of SOEL, Charilaos Alamanos, stated: "We are happy for the continuation of the cooperation and its expansion, and we believe that both at an educational and a professional level this expansion will be beneficial for both Institutes but also for CPAs and Trainee CPAs”.
As a Public Interest Professional Institute representing Greek auditors, SOEL is currently composed of 54 audit firms active in the Greek market and has approximately 5,900 registered members. SOEL is also a founding Member Body Organization of IFAC, Accountancy Europe (former FEE) and the FCM.

ACA training in Greece - graduates, school leavers and those with other professional qualifications or experience (such as ACCA or SOEL) can study for the ACA in Greece.
