He supports practices in making practical, informed decisions about technology that align with both their day to day operations and long term goals.

David Heath CEO, Circit

David is an Irish entrepreneur and chartered accountant who began his career in audit at Grant Thornton. Shaped by those early experiences, he quickly recognised that manual audit processes represented more than an administrative burden: they were a systemic weakness at the core of audit quality and trust. This conviction led Heath to found Circit in 2017, with a mission to automate and digitise audit processes to reduce risk, streamline engagements, and improve client relationships.

David Isherwood
David Isherwood Ethics Partner, BDO and Chair, Audit and Assurance Faculty Board

With a background in audit, David specialises in audit ethics and public policy matters and is a member of the UK firm's Business Interest Oversight Board. He is also Head of Technical Standards Group's Audit Advisory team, which is responsible for large parts of the firm's audit methodology, audit and related tools, quality control and training. David is Chair of ICAEW's Audit and Assurance Faculty.

Sir Andrew Likierman Professor of Management Practice in Accounting, London Business School

A former Dean of the London Business School, he has been Head of the Government Accountancy Service, Chairman of the National Audit Office and Director of the Bank of England. Following his research on judgement in organisations, he authored the ICEAW CPD course on professional judgment and his book “Judgement at work” was published in 2025.

Ian has been at ICAEW since March 2022, focusing on the role that analytics and technology solutions play in accountancy. Prior to this, Ian worked for over 10 years at PwC UK in Data Analytics. Ian is passionate about digital upskilling, and previously trained as a secondary school teacher.

Luke advises SMEs and owner-managed businesses on audit, tax and strategy. He has a particular interest in the intersection of audit, data analytics and artificial intelligence, and is actively exploring how AI-enabled tools and agents can enhance audit quality and efficiency in practice.

Nick joined the Institute in 2007 as a quality assurance reviewer following experience as a senior audit manager at a Big Four firm. He has overall responsibility for ICAEW’s audit-related monitoring activities, principally statutory audit monitoring – both in the corporate and public sector – as well as oversight of ICAEW’s third-party audit monitoring work.

Helen trained at a medium-sized London firm. She performed work in a variety of industries, with a focus on financial services. She joined ICAEW in 2021 as a quality monitoring reviewer. She conducts a wide range of visit types and works with all sizes of firms from the Big Four to sole practitioners and everything in-between. Helen also performs audit review work at firms in the Channel Islands and the Middle East.

Jez Williams
Jez Williams Training Director, Apex

Apex is a UK-based audit consultancy providing compliance and training services to UK auditors including over half of the current Top 50 firms. A chartered accountant who qualified with KPMG before joining the training sector in 2000, Jez is a well-known speaker on the UK accounting circuit and regularly presents for ICAEW and for other established training providers in the UK.
