Computer systems that use artificial intelligence (AI), cognitive computing and machine learning technologiescan be very powerful. They already provide outputs that can be extremely accurate, replacing or even superseding human achievements and they are advancing and spreading quickly.
“We need to recognise the strengths and limits of this form of intelligence, build understanding of the best ways for humans and computers to work together and consider the ethical implications,” says Nigel Sleigh- Johnson, head of financial reporting, audit and assurance, ICAEW.
