New regulations requiring employers to auto-enrol eligible staff into pension schemes began to come into force from 2012. The new requirements were rolled out to the largest companies first and since early 2018 now apply to all UK employers. The Pensions Regulator (TPR) is the body which regulates work-based pension schemes in the UK.
