Confirmation Letter FAQs

If you need a letter to support your application for audit registration for a third country, please apply online.

This form is for both firm and individual requests.

This service is free of charge.

How long will it take for the letter to be produced?

Our normal processing time in producing letters is 5 working days for letters regarding individuals and 15 working days for letters regarding firms. During busy periods processing times can be longer.

Does the online form have an attachment facility so that a spreadsheet (eg where there is a large list of confirmations required) can be uploaded?

This functionality isn’t available. Once you are notified of your enquiry reference number, you will be able to email a spreadsheet to us.

We have an arrangement with MIPA who will send us details of ICAEW members who have applied for reciprocal membership. So no action is required from yourself.

If you need a letter for HMRC purposes, please email your request to amlr@icaew.com.

Please provide the following details:

• Firm name
• Firm record number
• Details of ownership and control

 

The processing time for such requests is 10 working days.

This service is free of charge.

NB. Please note that the pre-requisite for such requests is that your firm is already registered with ICAEW.

A Firm disciplinary letter will include:

• Firm name
• Regulated activity status and date
• Disciplinary history – clear or with findings

 

Please note this is a chargeable service.

The database only displays fully qualified ICAEW members. Students do not appear on the online database. You can confirm some information on your training file online. Alternatively as a student you can apply for a confirmation letter online.
