Biography

Stephen Williams 

Mr. Williams joined GIB in 1987 and was appointed Group Financial Controller in 2000 and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2008.

In his role as CFO, he reports directly to GIB’s Board of Directors. He is responsible for Group-wide statutory, regulatory and management reporting; financial and balance sheet planning; capital management; market and liquidity risk reporting; and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).  

The EPMO is responsible for the oversight and management of the implementation of GIB’s new GCC-focussed universal banking strategy. Mr. Williams was responsible for GIB’s Basel 2 implementation project and was a member of the Institute for International Finance’s (IIF) Working Group on Capital Adequacy. He is currently responsible for GIB’s Basel 3 implementation project. Mr. Williams is a member of GIB’s Management Committee, Group Risk Committee and Operational Risk Committee, and is the Chairman of the Assets and Liabilities Committee (ALCO), and Vice Chairman of the Strategy Steering Committee. During his tenure at GIB, Mr. Williams has also had temporary responsibility for the Bank’s Treasury function, as acting Chief Investment and Treasury Officer, as well as Information Technology, Operations and Administration.  

Prior to joining GIB, Mr. Williams worked for KPMG in London and the Middle East.
