Nick is a member of ICAEW, qualifying in 1973 and was admitted as an FCA in 1979. He was educated at Berkhamsted School (1957 - 1967) and has a BA (Hons) from Leeds University (1997 - 2000). Nick has been living in France since 1973, and was a Partner in Deloitte from 1984 through 2009 specialising in auditing French multinational companies, as well as referred in international companies and partnerships and helping companies to set up operations in France. He was responsible for the Deloitte UK and then US desks from 1991 through to 2009.

Nick is currently a sole practitioner as a French qualified accountant and statutory auditor 'Expert Comptable and Commissaire aux Comptes' for both French and international clients. He is a member of the Paris area "Compagnie des Commissaires aux Comptes" (since 1987) and the "Ordre des Experts Comptables" (since 1985). He is the President of the Association of British Accountants in France (ABAF) and the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) in France.

The web site of ABAF which can be found on www.abaf.asso.fr also gives considerable information and help for members of ICAEW wishing to come to France either to work in practice or in industry and commerce. Nick and his fellow ABAF council members will be very pleased to try and answer any queries that members may have.

Jonathan Benford

Having graduated from Cambridge University, Jonathan joined Dixon Wilson in 1986. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 and subsequently spent two years in the Paris office of the company. Appointed Partner in 1995, he returned to the Paris office in 1997 and qualified as an Expert Comptable in 1999. He acts for a broad range of clients in France and also provides tax advice and compliance services on a large number of non-resident issues.

Jonathan is Treasurer of the Paris branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, correspondent member of the Institut des Avocats Conseils Fiscaux (IACF) and Secretary to the Association of British Accountants in France (ABAF) from 2010 to 2017.
