Economic outlook
The coronavirus has hit the UK harder than other advanced countries, underperforming the EU and the US, with growth is likely to be nearly 10% lower than in 2019. Fiscal policy has been loosened aggressively and with a potential vaccine on the horizon, does this mean growth will resume? Professor Trevor Williams examines the outlook.

Katerina joined the National Trust Scotland (NTS) as CFO on 31 August 2020, bringing extensive executive finance experience from the asset management, energy and property sectors. Prior to NTS she was with Grant Property and previously work at Ventient Energy and InterGen.

David Carr is CEO of Bouygues Energies and Services and a speaker at ICAEW's Forensic Controllers update 2020

David is CEO of Bouygues Energies & Services UK, a leading firm in energy, digital and industrial transformation with £400m turnover employing more than 2,500 people in the UK. He became CEO in January 2016, heading up facilities management, infrastructure and energy businesses. In 2018, he was voted IWFM Leader of The Year.

Sona is a Chartered Accountant with more than 14 years of experience in practice and industry. She trained at PwC, gaining experience in audit, cost transformation and business valuation before moving to Vodafone Group. At Vodafone, she worked closely with the Group CFO and Deputy CFO in her role as Valuations Manager.

Amy manages the financial aspects of a new entity created in the overseas network. She has also worked on corporate projects including the Government Spending Review. Prior to this, she worked in Myanmar with Save the Children as a Funding and Grants Director coordinating with a large variety of stakeholders.

Laura de Poitiers is Financial Controller at Escape Hunt Plc and a speaker at ICAEW's Financial Controller's Update 2020

Laura has joined small firms starting out, being the first member of the finance team and setting up all the finance processes, systems, controls and reporting. Previously she joined social enterprise Belu Water when it was loss making and generating £2.5m revenue. She saw it grow to almost £6m revenue and giving £1m per year to WaterAid.

Raj worked in financial services in industry and as a management consultant for 15 years. In 2018, he joined Goal Master, a health, fitness and nutrition coaching start-up, as CEO. In 2019 he added to his responsibilities by co-founding sportswear company Hytro, which is set to launch in late 2020.

Tim Williams
Tim Williams FCA CFO, Inter Milan

Tim has overseen the administration and finance department of Inter Milan since September 2017. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and has worked in several senior finance positions in UK FTSE 100 and US SEC Listed organisations. Prior to joining Inter Milan, he was Group Financial Controller with Manchester United.

Professor Trevor Williams
Professor Trevor Williams Chair of Institute of Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee

Trevor is a visiting Professor at the University of Derby, rotating Chair of the Institute of Economic Affairs Shadow Monetary Policy Committee and co-author of Trading Economics: A Guide to Economic Statistics for Practitioners. Formerly he was Chief Economist at Lloyds Banks, where he established an award-winning team analysing global and domestic data.
