This register provides details of all ICAEW firms that are accredited to carry out uncontested probate and estate administration services for their clients.
Search by firm name and location to access contact details and, if applicable, any disciplinary records.
You can also search for accountancy firms that were previously accredited by ICAEW to offer probate services.
The Administration of Oaths
Since 1 October 2025, all ICAEW probate firms are also authorised to administer oaths.
Search for probate firms in your area and contact them to check if they can help you with services such as swearing an oath or making an affidavit.
About the probate register
The probate register is updated using validated data on the first working day of each calendar month. The data it contains is validated against the original source data before it is included in our searchable database. These updates include links to the ICAEW Disciplinary Database. Publication of disciplinary or regulatory records on the database (including the length of time records will be held) are dependent on the decision of the committee that imposes the sanction or order. The basis for these decisions is in accordance with the category of the matter and the sanction given. There are some cases which can’t be shared or published for legal reasons (such as cases concerning health matters before the Fitness to Practise Committee).
Accessing the Legal Ombudsman complaints database
The Legal Ombudsman investigates complaints about the service consumers have received from firms who provide legal services. Final decisions are published on their website for 12 months. You can look up whether a decision has been made against an ICAEW accredited probate firm by using the search function on the Legal Ombudsman’s website.
