1457 obituaries and biographical notes/profiles are listed in the obituaries index from this journal.

The index includes all obituaries published within the journal except for one line announcements of death and most references to deaths made in Council sessions. Some biographical notes/profiles are also included. The majority of obituaries indexed are for accountants belonging to the Scottish Institutes but the listing also includes other persons of prominence in the wider accountancy profession, the legal profession, government and society.

175 portraits are listed in the portraits index from this journal.

The portraits index includes details of photographs of individual members/prominent figures in society, named members in group photographs and caricatures published in the journal.

Excluding portraits, one additional illustration (showing a Cup for an annual competition between the three societies in Scotland) was listed in the illustrations index from this journal.

The Accountants' Magazine published lists of members who had been wounded, missing, taken prisoner or awarded medals during the First World War. Details for 408 individuals are recorded in our First World War index from this source (196 recording deaths, 212 recording other news).

In addition to this index, The Accountants' Magazine also published statistics of accountants serving in the war and regular listings of those serving. The first listing appeared in the November 1914 issue (pages 529-541) under the heading 'With His Majesty's Forces' and included members of the Scottish Societies of Chartered Accountants, their apprentices, and assistants who were serving in the forces. Subsequent lists added further names to those known to be serving from the Scottish Societies.
