Graduated Sheffield University 1978.
Joined NatWest Bank but left to train at Price Waterhouse in Leicester 1980.
Qualified ACA 1985 then returned home to work with PW in Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
Moved to Haines Watts Darlington then Clive Owen & Co 1990 before becoming partner at Kenneth Easby & Co in Northallerton 1998.
Set up own firm Colin Hutson Accounting Limited 2013 based in Northallerton North Yorkshire with wife Julie and was joined by eldest son Sam (who qualified in 2020 and is now a director of the company as well as being on ICAEW Council).
Still a keen cricketer and follower of Sunderland FC.
