Biography
With over 30-years of professional experience, Ernest has vast expertise in assurance, financial advisory and consultancy, particularly in capital markets, including IPOs. While serving as Chief Advisor of SGX, Ernest was responsible for raising awareness of and promoting SGX as a capital raising platform in both equities and fixed income market. He also worked closely with SGX's equities, fixed income and international coverage teams, to deepen its relationships in China with the Chinese business community in Singapore and Asia Pacific region.
Ernest was the Deputy Managing Partner of Deloitte Singapore responsible for the firm's operation, specifically in client management and market development. He advised on the IPOs of national and multi-national companies in diverse sectors, and conducted acquisitions and due diligence reviews of companies in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. He was also the financial advisor to several companies with operations in the Asia Pacific region, regarding their public listings on SGX, including REITS and business trusts.
Apart from holding professional accountancy memberships with the Institute of Singapore Chartered accountants (elected President 2009-2014), ICAEW, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK and CPA Australia, Ernest also holds a PhD in Business Administration, a Mater in Philosophy degree and a Bachelor of Art degree in Accountancy Studies.
On other related appointments he was appoint Justice of the Peace by the President of the Republic of Singapore since September 2015, Chairman of Punggol West Citizens Consultative Committee (People's Association) since February 2016 and Board member of Visiting Justices Board and Board of Inspection (Ministry of Home Affairs) since March 2018.
