About the AAT-ACA Fast Track
The AAT to ACA Fast Track route allows AAT trainees to "skip" some training steps towards qualifying as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, as they will have covered similar ground while studying for their Level 4 AAT qualification.
This usually means less time to qualify and fewer exams allowing students to become fully qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountants in as little as two years.
Benefits of the fast track route
As your students will already have a Level 4 AAT qualification, and some fundamental background knowledge, the AAT to ACA Fast Track route provides a fast and smooth transition to the full ACA qualification. This reduced qualifying time means you can also benefit from a decreased training period and costs.
AAT to ACA Structure
There are two elements of ACA training that eligible AAT trainees could can fast-track to qualify faster, provided they have completed these as part of their AAT qualification.
Exams
With the AAT to ACA Fast Track route students could be almost halfway towards completing their ACA exams depending which AAT units they have passed and whether they have completed an apprenticeship.
Up to five exams in the first stage of the ACA, also known as the Certificate Level, can be eligible for credit for prior learning (CPL) based on the Level 3 and Level 4 AAT units students have studied. Eligible The exams students could gain exemptions for include Accounting Fundamentals, Assurance and Risk Fundamentals, Business Insight and Performance, Tax Fundamentals, and Sustainability and Ethics.
Students who have also completed a Level 4 AAT apprenticeship, including their End-Point Assessment, will also be exempt from the Professional Level Fundamental Case Study exam.
Professional work experience: If your student completes their AAT qualification while in full-time employment with an Authorised Training Employer, they can also claim up to 12 months' work experience towards the 450 days minimum requirement of the ACA.
