Your Continuing Professional Development Record - Key Audit Partners

ICAEW are required to monitor the CPD of its members and under Principal Byelaw 56, Continuing professional development (CPD) regulations | ICAEW, you have been selected to present your CPD record for review.

You have been selected to present your CPD record for review as a Key Audit Partner.

CPD for Key Audit Partners and Responsible Individuals faces increased scrutiny and with effect from 1 July 2016, you were obliged to ensure that you satisfy the requirements of International Education Standard 8 “Professional Competence for Engagement Partners Responsible for Audits of Financial Statements” and keep formal CPD records in a sufficient format. The ICAEW “RAID” principle supports this. If you need any clarification, please refer to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for details on RAID. You will also find guidance on IES 8 CPD update tips.

Due to this increased scrutiny, we need you to complete the documents below in addition to your usual CPD records so that we are able to form a judgement as to the appropriateness of the CPD you have undertaken.

What do you need to do?

Please follow the 3-step process below.

STEP 1. Download and complete the RI Questionnaire.

STEP 2. Download and complete your CPD Records.

In order to do so, please use the CPD Record Template.

You should include the following information:

I. A detailed description of your Role & Responsibilities covering: 

  • A description of all your role/s held during the 2021 CPD year/period (1 November 2020 to 31 October 2021).
  • Identify any aspects of your role that carry any risks e.g., Executive Director of PIEs, FCA regulated, Audit, KAP, Insolvency, MLRO, Probate Licence holder.

II. Reflect – A detailed description of your development needs which must cover:

  • Changes to your role
  • Technical aspects
  • Ethics & professional scepticism
  • Professional skills and development

III. Actions

  • Detail what activity you have undertaken – reading/ research/ courses/ webinars/ shadowing / discussions.

IV. Outline the Impact of those actions and 

V. Detail any matters carried forward to 2022 and

VI. Your reflections for 2022

STEP 3. Add a copy of your internal CPD records and email the documents to ICAEW.

Please email all documents to cpdreview@icaew.com no later than the deadline (as stated in the email you have received).
