Application for voluntary withdrawal

This form is for firms that wish to voluntarily withdraw a regulated service currently held with ICAEW. An application for voluntary withdrawal is only effective once it has been accepted by ICAEW. In some circumstances the application may have to be referred to the relevant regulatory committee for approval.

You should still complete the application if your firm is due or currently undergoing a monitoring visit by the Quality Assurance Department. However please note the application will not be considered until the visit is concluded.

During the end-of-year billing period any applications for voluntary withdrawal must be confirmed to us by 31 January or the firm may still be required to pay the annual fee for the year.

This form must be completed by the firm’s relevant compliance principal for the regulated area being voluntarily withdrawn.

If the firm is applying for voluntary withdrawal in multiple regulated areas, and has different compliance principals in each area, we will accept submission of this form from one person, provided they are:

  • the Audit Compliance Principal - for firms applying to cease audit registration
  • one of the designated compliance principals - for firms applying to cease other registrations apart from audit
