The UK tax system is currently undergoing a major shift that goes beyond specific legislation to the purpose of HMRC and to HMRC’s view of taxpayers and tax advisor intentions towards the UK tax system. This shift has had a direct, practical impact on several points of the tax lifecycle: from getting clarity on a tax position, to filing a tax return, to handling a tax enquiry if it arises and agreeing the appropriate level of penalty.

In this webinar, we will look at these changes collectively and discuss HMRC's current approach to investigating the accuracy of tax returns and the impact of recent initiatives, including the introduction of Guidelines for Compliance 13 and the proposed extension of the notification of uncertain tax treatments regime to high net worth individuals.
