Technical Releases: issued for the AJPC and CCAB

Accountants' Joint Parliamentary Committee (AJPC)

The AJPC was established in 1946. Its representations were sometimes referred to in articles as the representations of ‘the allied accountancy bodies’. The AJPC was replaced by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) in 1974.

CCAB

The Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) was established in 1974 and is comprised of the five major accountancy bodies in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The CCAB website states that the ‘CCAB provides a forum in which matters affecting the profession as a whole can be discussed and co-ordinated and enables the profession to speak with a unified voice to government’.

1972–1974

Technical Releases issued on behalf of the AJPC were published as part of the numerical sequence of technical releases between 1972 and 1974.

The earliest Technical Releases published on behalf of the AJPC refer to meetings that took place in 1971. Prior to this date, information from the AJPC was published in the form of press releases or memoranda and these were sometimes reproduced in accounting and tax handbooks or in journals such as The Accountant.

1974–1991

Technical Releases issued on behalf of the CCAB were published as part of the numerical sequence of technical releases between 1974 and late 1991.

1992

From the start of 1992 the numerical sequence was replaced by named series, as detailed below. All Technical Releases issued since 1992 have been numbered sequentially in the year of publication prefixed by the name of the relevant series; for example, AUDIT 2/02 or TECH 1/04.

1992–1995

No Technical Releases were issued on behalf of the CCAB between 1992 and 1995.

1995–

Technical Releases issued for the CCAB since 1995 have been published in a number of series, including AUDIT, TECH, and TAXGUIDE. The full text of some CCAB releases issued since 1995 may be available on the ICAEW website through the listings of Technical Releases.
