David Franklin

Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, ICAEW

David joined ICAEW in 2015 in the Members Department and was promoted to Director in 2017.  In 2021 he was promoted to Managing Director for Belonging and Supporting, with responsibility for ICAEW's member support and commercial operations.  David began serving as Chief Financial Officer in May 2023, after acting in the position since August 2022. His responsibilities grew in May 2026 when he also took on the role of Deputy CEO.

David graduated with a First-Class degree in Economics and Financial Management in 2003.  He then joined PwC where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, initially working in assurance (Investment Management) before specialising in Valuations.  During David's time at PwC he undertook secondments, firstly in the investments team at the Business Growth Fund and subsequently at Brigade, a social enterprise.

Outside of work, David is a passionate advocate for the third sector.  He has been Trustee and Treasurer of the Prison Radio Association for 6 years and was a business mentor at the Prince's Trust for over 10 years.
