The Rt Hon Justine Greening is a leading advocate for social mobility and equal access to opportunity, with a career spanning senior roles in government, business and the social impact sector.
Justine's commitment to breaking down barriers to opportunity was a defining focus of her time in government, most notably as Secretary of State for Education, where she placed social mobility at the heart of the Department’s strategy. She believes that access to opportunity transforms lives and employers, alongside government and education, have a vital role to play in driving lasting social impact.
Justine is the founder of The Purpose Coalition, which brings together business leaders, public sector leaders, educators and policymakers to take a collective, practical approach to improving social mobility across the UK. Through the development of the Purpose Goals, she has helped create an innovative common framework that enables purpose-led organisations to shape their work, collaborate effectively and share best practice, while driving progress on what works and how impact is measured.
Justine currently serves as Joint Chancellor of the University of Southampton and is Chair of the Sutton Trust Education Advisory Panel. She is also a Non-Executive Director of On The Beach plc.
Justine served as the Member of Parliament for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields for 14 years, including more than six years in the UK Cabinet under two Prime Ministers. Her ministerial roles included Secretary of State for Education, International Development and Transport, as well as Economic Secretary to the Treasury and Minister for Women and Equalities. Before entering politics, she spent 15 years working in business and industry as a finance professional.
