ICAEW announces new Vice-President

Tuesday 5 October 2021: Malcolm Bacchus has been elected ICAEW Vice-President for 2022-23.

He will take over the role from current Vice-President Mark Rhys in June 2022.

Based in London, Malcom is the principal of Baccma Consulting. He currently chairs the Institute’s Ethics Standards Committee and is a member of the Technical Strategy Board. Malcolm is also a past-President of the London Society of Chartered Accountants and now holds the role of Honorary President of the Chartered Accountants Students Society of London.

Outside of ICAEW, Malcolm is a member of the HMRC Administrative Burdens Advisory Board (ABAB) which aims to help government make tax easier, quicker and similar for small business.

Malcolm Bacchus, ICAEW Vice-President elect, said:

“I am delighted to be elected the new ICAEW Vice-President and look forward to working with the other Office Holders and ICAEW colleagues to ensure the Institute retains a pre-eminent position in our profession.

“The role of business, modern technology, global taxation, sustainability, diversity and the long-term economic impact of the pandemic are just some of the issues that will shape our world going forward. We will need to respond to these with foresight and agility in order to help our membership, their clients and businesses to succeed.”

The current ICAEW President is Will Brooks. He will be replaced by Deputy President, Julia Penny in June 2022.
