With AI now used widely across the profession, the AI hub aims to boost knowledge on ethical AI use, pooling together guidance, checklists, podcasts and resources. The podcasts cover a range of topics from the effect of AI on culture to whether you should trust a ‘bot’ with the big decisions.
The CCAB brings together ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, CIPFA and Chartered Accountants Ireland, representing over 285,000 professional accountants in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and over half a million professionals worldwide. These bodies work together in the public interest on matters affecting the profession and wider economy.
The CCAB Ethics group has also produced a draft Statement to the Profession on the Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence and six case studies, illustrating how the codes of ethics can be applied by accountants facing dilemmas when using AI technologies.
The group invites comments on the draft statement, and the suggested solutions to the case studies, which can be provided by filling in the brief survey on the AI Hub.
The six draft case studies cover a range of scenarios in which professional accountants are likely to use AI in their practice, and cover a broad aspect of practice, including professional accountants working in firms and industry, public sector and academia and those holding non-executive positions.
The draft statement and the case studies, and the responses to them, will be discussed at an online event on 25 September 2026.

These technologies hold huge potential for innovation, cost savings and efficiencies, as well as potential risks, which may be exacerbated by the speed and scale that such technologies are capable of.
“However, the use of AI is not just about risk. For professional accountants, it is also a matter of ethics. That is why the CCAB’s new AI hub brings together the practical guidance and useful resources prepared by member bodies, to support responsible AI adoption and to enable professional accountants to use AI ethically.”
